Where the Silver Flow Comes From
First year of issue, dies and materials still being refined — the silver flow on the dragon's tail is the unique mark of an era.
2025 is the first year of issue for the China Dragon Silver Coin. During minting, with dies and materials still being refined, a tiny number of coins received a unique "silver flow" trace on the dragon's tail — no flaw, but a special imprint of the first-year minting process.
After issue, collectors discovered these coins and named them intuitively by the count, size and position of the flow:
- 壹By countOne flow is "Single Silver Tail," two flows "Double," three flows "Triple"
- 贰By size & positionSingle splits into "Large / Small Single," Double into "Large / Small Double"
Silver-tail dragons have added rich fun to collecting. Being extremely scarce, they command prices far above ordinary encapsulated dragons without silver tails.

Silver-tail dragons appear mainly in the "0-leading segment" (#00001–#09999) and the "10,000s segment" (#10000–#19999); only a handful appear in the 20,000s, 30,000s and 40,000s segments.

Small Single
One silver flow, finer and more subtle in position. The delicate variant among single-tail coins.

Two silver flows, finer in size. The nimble variant among double-tail coins, all the rarer.
Triple Tail
Three silver flows — only 5 pieces recorded, the pinnacle of variants, highly sought after.
Single tails total 154 pcs (Large + Small Single), double tails total 825 pcs (Large + Small Double), and triple tails just 5. No "quadruple silver tail" has been found to date. Silver-tail dragons are scarce, commanding prices far above ordinary encapsulated coins.

Scarcity defines the premium. Silver-tail dragons command a large premium over ordinary encapsulated dragons: the rarer the variant (Triple > Double > Single) and the more complete and striking the flow, the more sought after they become.
